Romancing Jeju Island on Winter

If you are fond of watching Korean Dramas, you’ve heard of Jeju as one one the famous vacation spot among Koreans. Thus, it is one the filming spot of Boys Over Flower, All-In and Lie to Me to name a few.  Many branded it as the “Hawaii of Asia” thus, many couples not only from Korea but all throughout the world regarded it as one the best honeymoon destination.

Jeju Island is one of the first Special Autonomous Province of South Korea. It lies off the southern coast of South, Korea. The iconic presence of “dol  hareubang” or “grandfather statues” mystified the wonders of Jeju.

There is no direct flight from Manila going to Jeju so we have opted to stay one night at Busan for the earliest flight to Jeju the following day. We have chosen Air Busan due to the good deal offered via online booking. Air Busan is a regional airline based in Busan, Korea.

The island has a lot of attractions to offer. Since we have limited time having only one day to roam around, we have to squeeze our itinerary and chose only the most feasible sight to wander. We hire a private car for a day tour service. 

Our first stop is the Manjanggul Lava Tube. Located in the Jeju North Coast, this is a 7 km cave and only 1 km of which can be accessed by the public. It is listed as one of Jeju's three Unesco World Heritage.

Jeju Island itself is a picturesque site for photographer wannabe like me. Here are some shots of the beautiful

scenery of the Island. I'm pretty sure that this is indeed more captivating during spring or autumn season.  

Our next stop is the Seongsan Ilchubong or the "Sunrise Peak". This is part of the triple crown Unesco World Heritage pride of Jeju.

For lunch, we asked our driver Mr. Lee for a good recommendation of a good Korean Barbecue restaurant as we want to try the famous Jeju Black Pig.

After our satisfying lunch , we headed to the east coast for the scenic view of of Seopjikoji. We truly love the  magnificent view and were totally awed by the landscape. No wonder it has been the famous shooting location in Jeju.

Spectacular Rock Stone formation in the Ocean 

 Jeongbang Waterfall is the only waterfall in Asia that falls directly in the ocean.

           

Next on our list is the Jusangjeolli Cliff. These are stone pillars shaped liked a cube or hexagon in various sizes piled along the coast of Jejudo Island.

After the breathtaking view of the cliff, we headed to the Cheonjeyeon Falls, another magnificent waterfalls of Jeju. Cheonjeyeon is a three tier waterfalls, however, due to lack of energy we opted to see only the third tier and just managed to see the first and two sets of waterfalls from the Seonim Bridge.

Seonimgyo Bridge is an arch bridge on Jeju Island over Cheongyejeon Waterfalls. It is also called  the "Seven Nymphs Bridge". 

Jeju is also a museum island as there are a lot of museums spread all over the island and off to our last stop we chose the The Teddy Bear Safari Jeseum

There's even a "Bear of Steel" inside the Jeseum :)

Jeju is truly a must-see place in South, Korea.
